Manager Carnon Downs

I am excited to be the new manager of Daisy Fays Carnon Downs after joining the team in Autumn 2023. I studied primary school teaching at university and since graduating a few years ago have worked in a variety of settings with children. I find working with the early years particularly rewarding as the children are constantly picking up new skills and having new experiences. My passion is particularly about involving the outdoors in their learning and providing plenty of opportunities to explore the world around them. In the past I have worked at an environmental children’s camp and in a woodland preschool so I am excited to use these experiences in my work at Daisy Fays.

In my spare time, I am the Ladies Captain for Truro River Rowing Club so you will often find me training for our next gig rowing competition! I love being out on the water with friends in all weathers and getting to go to summer regattas in beautiful locations.

Assistant Manager Carnon Downs

I am the Assistant Manager at Daisy Fays Carnon Downs. My role includes leading the Chirpy Chicks room and I am the settings Senco.

I have worked for Daisy Fays since 2023, training at other settings prior Carnon Downs opening in January 2024. I have 17 years experience in early years settings, starting as an apprentice and working my way up.

I love how rewarding my role is at the beginning of children’s lives and preparing them for the next big adventure. More recently I have bumped into young adults that remembered me looking after them as a child, given me the feeling that I have had some impact on their learning journey.

I have two girls of my own 11 & 12, which means I spend a lot of family days out. We enjoy beach days, paddle boarding, woodland walks with our dog, camping with the whole family and the occasional lazy sofa movie night in.

Baby Room

The baby room is a bright, open space but also a cosy, homely environment full of stimulating resources enabling your children to explore freely without limitations. In our baby room we are always participating in messy play as we believe this is paramount to your child’s learning. We are dedicated to following your child’s routine to ensure that the nurturing baby room provides a home from home experience where your child will feel safe, happy and confident. We also have a beautiful sleep room decorated with fairy lights, bunting and lanterns to create a calm feeling during nap time.

The babies have a separate outdoor area with soft flooring and partial cover for your baby to explore, learn and grow.

Toddlers & Pre-school

Our toddler and pre-school room is light and airy filled with learning opportunities and an extensive amount of toys to promote play. The pre-school follow a routine with opportunity for free flow play to prepare them for school. Our pre-school room leader is an early years teacher who provides a range of activities from letters and sounds to literacy and mathematics activities. Children are also taught independence in a fun and exciting way.

Outdoor Learning

Our children have time to explore outside in a large, enclosed garden and enjoy tending to our home grown vegetables and plants. All our staff are DBS checked, paediatric first aid trained and have a qualification of level 3 or above in childcare.

Spending time in the garden is a very important time of our day, it allows us to explore our senses by getting involved in a range of outdoor activities, whatever the weather.
