Daisy Fays Truro
At Daisy Fays Truro we have beautiful grounds and are based just a short distance from the city centre and from local schools. Our nursery is in a lovely Victorian property and we are so lucky to have such a large outdoor environment, which all of the children love, alongside our very own forest school which opened in 2021.
Daisy FaysTruro Management
Hi I'm Rachel
Manager Truro
Hi, I’m Rachel and I’m the manager of Daisy Fays Truro. I have worked in Early Years since 2005 and I have spent the last 12 years as a qualified teacher in local primary schools.
I have a passion for developing interesting, engaging environments, and for creating exciting learning opportunities for children within early years provision. In my role as a teacher, I have specialised in the Early Years curriculum, and I have a passion for phonics, and early language. I have worked alongside the Education Library Service and Local English Hubs to enhance provisions for reading at the schools within which I worked.
I am a keen advocate for creating a ‘love of reading’ and I cherish the role of being able to read to children or share a book. I believe that books play a large part in early language and my favourite book is ‘The Rainbow Fish’. I enjoy learning new skills and I have a keen interest in creating stained glass windows, a hobby which I started several years ago.
I am a mum, a granny and a passionate Cornish maid, who believes in promoting our incredible county and all that it has to offer. I enjoy being outdoors and spending time working on vintage vehicles, of which I have a few, I also enjoy attending local vintage rallies.
Hi I'm Lauren
Assistant Manager Truro
I began working in childcare in 2007 and have been at our Truro setting since 2012. I have completed my level 2 and 3 in childcare and I am also qualified L3 in SEN where I am also the settings SEN Coordinator. I am really passionate about SEN and its so rewarding seeing the children’s progress.
As assistant manager my other role is Preschool lead where my focus is preparing the children ready for primary school. Its great to see them learn their next steps whilst also having fun. There is no other job like working in childcare.
In my spare time, when I’m not running my daughter around to school and her various clubs, you will most likely find me cuddled up reading a good book with a cup of coffee.
Experienced Staff
We currently have 16 members of staff who are a minimum level 3 qualified in Early Years, degree level qualifications and two trainees who are working towards their qualifications as well. The team are DBS checked, paediatric first aid trained and we use makaton in each room. Our team have so much experience and provide a safe and welcoming environment for every child. The nursery provides healthy snacks, hot lunches and can cater for any child who has dietary requirements. Every child is encouraged to be a kind and friendly individual.
Baby Room
Our baby room (Chirpy Chicks) is a shoe free zone, has an open room, a separate area where babies eat and a calming, dark sleep room where relaxing music is played. Babies learning is focused on sensory experiences and outdoor exploration. Babies individual needs are met in a gentle and nurturing way.
Toddler Room
Toddler room (Happy Hens) in this room we focus on social skills, independence and have their own door for easy access to the outdoors. The children enjoy playing with such a wide range of activities and if they would like to can have a rest.
Preschool Room
Pre-School (Rising Roosters) We are so lucky to have such a big space upstairs in our pre-school room which allows children to go in separate rooms with an adult. In this room we again focus on social skills and independence. The children go outside twice a day in all weathers which they love. During circle time the staff use Read, Write, Inc which is used in schools and will help prepare children when they go to school. If children do still require a sleep again they can do so.
Forest School
Forest School (Foraging Foxes) all staff help support children to be safe outdoors and take appropriate risks. Every child throughout nursery loves being in the forest school and we are so lucky to have such a big area where children have the freedom to explore. We do have a fire pit where children can sit down and even help cook their own snacks. There is a cabin as well where the children can go if they feel like they need a rest or to play with an activity.
