Nursery Manager St Ives

I’m Julia and I have been the Manager at Daisy fays St Ives since June 2022. I have worked in childcare for 26 years, 18 of those years has been at this nursery in St Ives. I was Baby room lead for most of those years, then deputy manager for the last 2 years. I am very passionate about my job, and love to create new areas for the children. I am always striving to make the nursery an exciting place for the children to be.

I have 3 grown up children of my own, Luke, Sam and Emily, who all still live at home, so home life is quite busy. In my spare time I enjoy going out for coffee, gardening and we love to explore and travel to new places on holidays.

Assistant Manager St Ives

I am a qualified teacher and I have worked in education for over twenty years. I have lived and worked in St Ives all my life, I have two very grown up children and a borderline obsessive addiction to crocheting.

I began my journey working as a teaching assistant in an early years reception class at our local Infant school where I quickly discovered my passion for early years education and Special educational needs. I studied for my degree whilst working and gained my QTS whilst teaching a Reception class before moving to teach Year one. However, Early Years has always been where my passion lies and when opportunity arose to work for Daisy Fays I jumped at it.

I am a firm believer in a child centred, holistic approach to education, provision and the environment we provide for all our children. I enjoy providing opportunities for our children to develop and grow through a healthy balance of independent and adult led activities and investigations. I am at my happiest when observing our children fully engaged in their learning and play.

Providing enabling, inclusive environments for learning and exploring has always been one of my passions. I enjoy creating spaces that allow our children autonomy and ownership whilst promoting respect for resources, each other and the world around them.

I endeavour to always view the world through the eyes of the children I learn with.

Babies & Toddlers

Our spacious baby room offers a large open plan area, with a separate sleep room and sensory room and a specific outdoor learning space for the littlest ones. Our highly qualified team deliver stimulating planned activities that will help the babies learn and explore.

Our large toddler room provides areas where our 2-year-olds can grow and develop vital skills that will help them in their future learning. Having their own large garden also enables the children to access the outdoors.

Pre-Schoolers

Following the Early Years Foundation Stage our Pre-schoolers develop their independence and skills they will need to deal with new challenges as they continue their journey to school. The expansive outdoor area enables the children the freedom to explore and learn in a variety of ways including gardening, nature and learning through play. The preschool children also have access to a sensory room, and we have a large room that is used for soft play, dance and music sessions that all the children in the nursery share.

Our experience

The nursery employs up to 16 members with qualifications up to Early Years Teachers. All our team hold a Paediatric First Aid qualification and a minimum level of safeguarding training. The team provide opportunities for children to learn, encourage resilience, grow in confidence, and develop their curiosity whilst fostering each child’s individuality.
