Hi, I’m Rachel and I’m the manager of Daisy Fays Truro. I have worked in Early Years since 2005 and I have spent the last 12 years as a qualified teacher in local primary schools.
I have a passion for developing interesting, engaging environments, and for creating exciting learning opportunities for children within early years provision. In my role as a teacher, I have specialised in the Early Years curriculum, and I have a passion for phonics, and early language. I have worked alongside the Education Library Service and Local English Hubs to enhance provisions for reading at the schools within which I worked.
I am a keen advocate for creating a ‘love of reading’ and I cherish the role of being able to read to children or share a book. I believe that books play a large part in early language and my favourite book is ‘The Rainbow Fish’. I enjoy learning new skills and I have a keen interest in creating stained glass windows, a hobby which I started several years ago.
I am a mum, a granny and a passionate Cornish maid, who believes in promoting our incredible county and all that it has to offer. I enjoy being outdoors and spending time working on vintage vehicles, of which I have a few, I also enjoy attending local vintage rallies.

I began working in childcare in 2007 and have been at our Truro setting since 2012. I have completed my level 2 and 3 in childcare and I am also qualified L3 in SEN where I am also the settings SEN Coordinator. I am really passionate about SEN and its so rewarding seeing the children’s progress.
As assistant manager my other role is Preschool lead where my focus is preparing the children ready for primary school. Its great to see them learn their next steps whilst also having fun. There is no other job like working in childcare.
In my spare time, when I’m not running my daughter around to school and her various clubs, you will most likely find me cuddled up reading a good book with a cup of coffee.
Our nursery is housed in a spacious Victorian building, surrounded by its own mini woodland, creating a tranquil yet inspiring environment for children from babies to preschoolers. With excellent public transport links and convenient access to the A30, our nursery is easily reachable from major towns.
Our nursery features bright, airy, and spacious rooms, each with direct access to a safe and secure outdoor area. We offer a welcoming environment where your child can thrive, surrounded by a team of dedicated professionals who are like family.

Set within a beautiful woodland area, our Forest School inspires children to explore the outdoors, embrace safe challenges, and develop a lasting connection with the natural world. From den building and bug hunting to discovering the wonders of each season, every session is carefully led by trained practitioners who nurture resilience, independence, and teamwork—skills that will benefit children for years to come.
Our OFSTED-registered team consists of passionate professionals who are fully DBS-checked and paediatric first-aid trained. With expertise in early years education, they are dedicated to creating a secure and supportive environment where children thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. Together, we ensure every child feels valued and ready to take their first steps in learning – like a family.

Daisy Fays Truro are absolutely amazing. My little girl has been there for almost a year now. She has created great bonds with the nursery staff, who I trust completely with her safety. The building is always clean and tidy, with so much opportunity for play and exploration for little ones. The team are hardworking, caring individuals who put their all into supporting and teaching the children as they grow and develop. A very happy customer !

My eldest and middle boys have absolutely thrived at Daisy Fays Truro. My eldest has always been quite reserved and reluctant to go in in the mornings but the staff are gentle and encouraging and he settles in quickly once he's in. My middle child goes in with a big smile on his face and arms outreached for the staff member collecting him. The building and outdoor spaces are excellent and you can tell a lot of thought has gone into providing such lovely spaces and equipment for all the children to enjoy. The food is excellent and I know the boys eat well, often having second helpings which is great to know they've eaten well at preschool especially when they can be fussy at home. I love receiving photos and updates through the app as you get to see what your littles are up to, and I always appreciate the handover at pick-up time about what they've got up to on that day. All the staff really are fantastic, the manager, qualified staff and apprentices are just wonderful, they're all so approachable and friendly, supportive and kind. I just know my boys are in safe hands here and enjoy each day they attend.

Delighted with the place! A real godsend has been the amazing food and the assistance she's had with this which has really transformed our little one this past year. Everyone has been so approachable and there seems to be a great familiarity and understanding across all staff with our little one which is so comforting and exciting for her future here!

Daisy fays are absolutely brilliant with my child and she loves it. She comes home happy and full of excitment and explaining her fun packed day to me. The observations that put on the app are great and i can see that my daughyer enjoys her time here. The staff are always warm and friendly and listen to any concerns thatay rise. They are also very supportive. Such a great atmosphere and i so happy to have other child starting in sept

A good nursery in a beautiful setting, a very friendly atmosphere with great staff, our children enjoyed going here and I can recommend this nursery to everyone. The outside spaces and combination with the forest school are certainly their selling points.

My daughter has gone to daisy days for nearly 2 years now and she has absolutely loved it! I've seen her grow in confidence and shine in forest school and preschool. The teachers here are so lovely and honestly do such an amazing job, they really have made my daughters experience here magical. As a parent I'm so glad I made the decision for her to go here and we'll be so emotional transitioning from daisy fay's to school in September. We've had such a wonderful experience, anyone looking for a nursery this is definitely the place to go. 😊

Daisy Fays Nursery in Truro provides exceptional care and a warm, nurturing environment for little ones. From day one, the staff have been incredibly attentive and professional, ensuring that even the youngest children, like my 10-month-old, feel safe, comfortable, and engaged. We’ve witnessed wonderful progress in his development and curiosity, supported by spacious surroundings and thoughtfully planned activities designed specifically for infants. The nutritious meals offered are perfectly tailored to meet his dietary needs. Communication with the nursery is clear and timely, and the management team remains approachable and responsive, making the entire experience reassuring and positive. I’m delighted with the care my little one continues to receive at Daisy Fays.

My son is extremely happy at this nursery! He has transitioned from the baby room through to toddler room, and all set for a new start again come September! He is enjoying the outside areas, come rain or shine, the forest school mostly and the diversity that the site at Truro offers with its resources. The hot meal provided daily was an added draw for this nursery provision and on site chef and varied menu. His speech is really coming on now and the nursery staff are warm and friendly. 🙂
