Hi I'm Julia
Nursery Manager St Ives
I’m Julia and I have been the Manager at Daisy fays St Ives since June 2022. I have worked in childcare for 26 years, 18 of those years has been at this nursery in St Ives. I was Baby room lead for most of those years, then deputy manager for the last 2 years. I am very passionate about my job, and love to create new areas for the children. I am always striving to make the nursery an exciting place for the children to be.
I have 3 grown up children of my own, Luke, Sam and Emily, who all still live at home, so home life is quite busy. In my spare time I enjoy going out for coffee, gardening and we love to explore and travel to new places on holidays.

I am a qualified teacher and I have worked in education for over twenty years. I have lived and worked in St Ives all my life, I have two very grown up children and a borderline obsessive addiction to crocheting.
I began my journey working as a teaching assistant in an early years reception class at our local Infant school where I quickly discovered my passion for early years education and Special educational needs. I studied for my degree whilst working and gained my QTS whilst teaching a Reception class before moving to teach Year one. However, Early Years has always been where my passion lies and when opportunity arose to work for Daisy Fays I jumped at it.
I am a firm believer in a child centred, holistic approach to education, provision and the environment we provide for all our children. I enjoy providing opportunities for our children to develop and grow through a healthy balance of independent and adult led activities and investigations. I am at my happiest when observing our children fully engaged in their learning and play.
Providing enabling, inclusive environments for learning and exploring has always been one of my passions. I enjoy creating spaces that allow our children autonomy and ownership whilst promoting respect for resources, each other and the world around them.
I endeavour to always view the world through the eyes of the children I learn with.

After completing my Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education, I decided to relocate to Cornwall. I have dedicated eight years of my career to working in childcare, and in 2023, I became part of the team at Daisy Fays St Ives. In 2024, I became the Baby Room Lead, and I am now the Co-Deputy Manager alongside Leone.
Located in the beautiful coastal town of St Ives, our nursery is a cozy, purpose-built space for children aged 3 months to 5 years. With room for 57 children, we ensure each child gets the attention and care they deserve.
Our team is here to make learning fun and exciting. For our babies, we have a safe and engaging room filled with stimulating activities that spark curiosity and joy. Toddlers can enjoy their own big room and a fantastic garden where they can explore, play, and discover the wonders of nature.
As children grow, our preschool program helps them become more independent and ready for the big adventure of school. They get to explore our vast outdoor area, dig in the garden, and learn through play. Plus: They can enjoy our sensory room and a big space for soft play, dance, and music sessions that all the children love.
Our team is like a big family, with up to 16 caring members, we are OFSTED-registered team, a group of passionate professionals with qualifications. We also hold DBS checks, paediatric first aid training, and a shared dedication to safety and well-being, we ensure your child thrives in a secure and nurturing environment.

The nursery its self the staff with in the nursery are lovely, my children love going and never been any issues untill the new owners took over, prices been hiked up, adding late charges, calls requesting money altho invoices are not due till 1st of each month, calls at 7pm 8pm 9pm on weekends and Bank Holidays, rude people on end of the phone, when trying to give feed back, threats being made of children being removed from the nursery forcing funded childrens parents to pay extra as they change all time slots and funding dont cover the extra hours they are doing, but I'll repeat what I said this isn't the nursery staff that look after the children, very sad as last owners were lovely this lot are just money grabbing

All the staff are lovely n friendly , they all have been amazing taken care of my daughter who is very happy in her nursery n loves going, big shout out to the manager for her comforting chats about my other daughter who has dowm syndrome and had rested my mind before she was born and has rested my mind on making a decision for when she is 2 n ready to start nursery so thank you to all the staff 😊

My little one has been going here since she was 6 months old she is now nearly two. I cannot recommend this nursery enough. She now walks in happy and does not look back and is always happy when I pick her up. They not only look after the children but they care for them like their own. Julia and the team thank you so much!

Nursery is lovely, clean and organised- the baby room especially- the staff are amazing! I was feeling really anxious leaving my son for his first full day, and they could not do enough to make me feel comfortable with the transition. My son loves them and always has an amazing day!
