SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS (SEN) AT DAISY FAYS
“After moving our son to Daisy Fays from another nursery due to his needs (he is neuro-diverse) not being met at that nursery, he is a completely different child. He is back to his usual happy, cheeky, adventurous self and is purely down to work the Manager and the Deputy Manager do with every child. I cannot fault Daisy Fays or the staff and owe them a lot for helping us get our little boy back to himself again.”
At Daisy Fays, we understand that every child is unique. We are committed to creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where all children—especially those with Special Educational Needs (SEN)—can grow, learn, and thrive. Supporting children with SEN is a core part of our ethos, and we take pride in offering tailored care that meets each child’s individual needs.

Funding Support for Children with SEN
Special Educational Needs and Inclusion Funding (SENIF)
We can apply for SENIF to support children with emerging or ongoing SEN needs. This funding is used to provide additional resources, lower staff-to-child ratios, or targeted interventions. Each application is assessed individually, with clear evidence of how the funding will benefit the child.
Discretionary Funding
If a child is being assessed for an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP), discretionary funding may be available. This higher level of support helps maintain reduced staff ratios during the assessment period. Like SENIF, this is determined on a case-by-case basis.
Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
EHCPs are for children who require a higher level of support or specialist provision. These plans are developed in collaboration with parents, the setting’s SENCO, and relevant professionals such as speech and language therapists or inclusion specialists.
While EHCPs do not automatically provide one-to-one support, they often allow for reduced ratios within the nursery to ensure your child’s needs are met. EHCPs are reviewed every six months and include a carefully planned transition to school when the time comes.
Disability Access Funding (DAF)
If your child receives Disability Living Allowance, we may be able to claim Disability Access Funding on their behalf. DAF supports accessibility within the setting—whether through specialist equipment, training, or adjustments to the environment.
Please note that DAF resources remain with the nursery if your child moves to another setting.
Parental Involvement and Consent
We believe that parents are key partners in supporting children with SEN. Any funding applications or support plans will only be made with your full consent and involvement. Many of these processes require input from families, and we will always work alongside you to ensure the best possible outcomes.
